As a fellow software developer,I`d like to just say Good Job!

Unfortunately I don`t run Windows so I cannot test this myself, but it looks pretty decent for those who need it!

@mobri09: thanks, nice to see you're still around btw.

@networkengineer: All I can say based on that output is that it probably has to do with .NET and not the subnet calc in particular. You probably should wait for the final version, but you could try to reinstall (or update if necessary) the .NET framework. It could also be my shameful bad choice for the app file. Also, are you installing it on XP or Vista?

@Tesl: Thanks, I appreciate that. Normally I'd say I'm not a software developer, but I've been working on two other apps for the past 10 months so... I need to take a Cisco test again soon just to make sure I haven't changed into a coder indefinitely...

This was my first VB.NET app, and although I can complete it to work properly, the code is kinda 'funny' and by now I can do much better. I've actually already started on a complete rewrite, same interface though (and different app name ). The main thing I want to work on a bit before releasing 1.0 is the speed. I'll post again later this week with an update or v1.0.

    OK, I uploaded version 1.0.
    www.techexams.net/ip-subnet-calculator/

In addition to fixing bugs reported by beta users, mainly related to input validation, version 1 recognizes invalid all zero network address and all ones broadcast address combinations - they will appear in red, for example:

v1 also has improved recognition and support for supernets and a cleaner binary result window:

If you have a beta version installed, you will need to uninstall it manually because this is not an 'upgrade' but a rewrite and has a different name.

Although it is no longer in beta, if you have any comments or suggestions or find any bug please let me know. I'm going to release version 1.1 or so in a couple of months when I get that codesigning certificate (so Vista doesn't complain).

I encountered the same problem. This is a .zip file you're downloading, so you need to Extract all the files to a folder and then run the setup. It should work after that.

Yeah I did unzip them before I ran the setup.exe.

    Default Nice thing

    Hi
The calculator is a nice and beautiful thing. Also, I am thinking one thing. How about building a IPv4 to IPv6 converter/calculator? I guess that it would also come in handy for many. What do you say guys?

Was trying to download the calculator...for a friend of course....it doesn't work.

The download link gives a 404 Not Found web page.

I implemented a CDN solution in the past few days and it looks like the zip file isn't properly propagated around the globe yet while it should have been by now - I'll look into that. The link does work for me, but to download it simply copy the URL and change "downloads" into "www" to download it directly from our server.

    Thanks for reporting this!

    Awesome. Thanks.

Since that was received so well...

I was trying to get the printer friendly version of the CDP tech notes. That too is failing.

Yeah I'm still in the progress of moving TechNotes to our new CMS and I suspect there are others that don't work, but, I fixed that link so you should be able to access that printer-friendly version now.

Hey, thanks, great to see this is still downloaded frequently. Hopefully I'll have some time for a major update (win8 metro style probably) and some IPv6 support soon.

I'm taking this network course (prepping for CCNA) and I'm trying to figure out how to find the Subnet Mask of IP addresses.

Using this program, the subnet mask of 174.194.139.33 /24 should be 255.255.255.0 right?
    Same with 103.245.46.159 /8 is 255.0.0.0.
Also there is are examples on my worksheet that has 172.61.120.157 /1. Subnet mask should be 128.0.0.0?
    75.105.231.192 /31 will be 255.255.255.254?

    Thanks in advance.
